- Implementing a Web Usability Program. An in-house workshop facilitated and conducted by Howard McQueen. This workshop is an essential "how to" for launching and sustaining a web usability program. Case studies from the U.S. Food & Drug Administration's intranet portal program (Inside.FDA) form the basis for this workshop. Usability areas covered include: 1) prototyping to revise top level home pages; 2) improving the usability of web applications; 3) testing starter taxonomies that cut across silos within the organization. The workshop documents the before and after benefits of usability. The workshop also offers best practices for establishing voluntary Usability Testing Teams and provides a sample "Session Recorder" that usability test teams use to record task completion activity and "talk aloud" feedback from test subjects. This workshop also demonstrates "how to" facilitate consensus-driven prioritization for usability problems, allowing design and development teams to immediately take action.
